Police and hospital officials say the bombs struck within minutes of each other in two mainly Shiite neighborhoods. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the information, said 12 people were wounded in the attacks. International efforts are under way to stop Pakistan from defaulting on its debts after its foreign reserves dropped to just $3bn. With about $1bn a month needed to provide its people with basic requirements there are fears that Pakistan could run out of money before the end of the year. BERLIN - Haile Gebrselassie broke his own marathon world record on Sunday, becoming the first runner to finish under 2 hours, 4 minutes. The Ethiopian clocked 2:03:59 to win his third straight Berlin Marathon, beating the mark of 2:04:26 he set last year over the same flat course. He also became the first runner to win the race three times. "Today, I’m so, so, so happy. Everything was perfect today," Gebrselassie said. The struggling Bradford & Bingley bank is set to be nationalised. An announcement is due today, it is being reported. The BBC business editor Robert Peston reported that the B&B will be sold on almost immediately to another bank or banks. There was no immediate comment last night from the Treasury - which had been locked in discussions all yesterday with the B&B and the Financial Services Authority.
